Maternity Reflexology
Reflexology during pregnancy is a very safe and natural form of treatment to keep your body in balance, promote relaxation and help with a number of common complaints. Even if you have not used reflexology prior to becoming pregnant, there is anecdotal evidence to suggest that women who have received regular reflexology treatments throughout their pregnancy have shorter and easier labours than those who have not.
Common complaints during pregnancy that reflexology can help alleviate, include (amongst others!):
- Morning sickness
- constipation
- backache
- high blood pressure
- heartburn
- painful breasts
Reflexology is excellent at alleviating all of these symptoms and reduces the need for conventional pharmaceutical medicines which have a potential risk of harming your baby.
Take advantage of our special maternity reflexology offer and receive a course of 6 treatments for the price of 5.
Inducing labour
If your labour is overdue and you really want to get things moving naturally, reflexology is a great alternative to medical intervention. By targeting specific points on the feet, reflexology can intensely stimulate the release of hormones required for the onset of labour. In addition, reflexology can be used to stimulate the digestive system, removing waste before childbirth and relieving any associated feelings of nausea. If this is an option that you are considering, it is a good idea to write this into your birth plan so that your midwife is aware of your intentions. We will be happy to discuss this, or any aspect of your reflexology treatments directly with your midwife. Please note, this procedure can ONLY be carried out if you are past your due date.
